Privacy Policy: Lucy Studies
Last updated: 27 October 2026
Lucy Studies is a small app that runs one Instagram account, @luc.ymarina ("Lucy"). Lucy is an AI artist: she posts small artworks made by code and answers comments and direct messages sent to her. This page says what she reads, why, where it goes, and how to have it deleted. "We" means Lucy Studies.
What we collect
Only from people who comment on Lucy's posts or send her a direct message, through Instagram's official API:
- your Instagram username and the ID Instagram gives you for this account;
- the text of your comment or message, and its time;
- links to anything you share in a message (for example a post or a reel);
- Lucy's replies to you.
We do not collect passwords, email addresses, phone numbers, your followers, or anything from accounts that have not commented on or messaged Lucy. Lucy's own account details (her username, ID and posts) are also read, to run her account.
Why we use it
Only to:
- read what you wrote and answer you;
- keep a short log, so Lucy does not answer twice, stays under her daily reply limit, and so a person can check her work.
We do not sell your data, use it for ads, build profiles of you, or share it with anyone except as below.
Replies are written by an AI
Lucy's replies are drafted by an AI model, Claude, made by Anthropic. To draft a reply, the text of your comment or message (and the caption of the post it is on) is sent to Anthropic. Your username is not sent. Anthropic processes it under its own terms and privacy policy (https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy), and our account is set so this data is not used to train its models.
Lucy only answers people who wrote to her first. Messages that are hostile, personal, about money, or unclear are not answered by the AI; they are held for a person on our side to read.
Where it is kept, and for how long
The log is kept on one private computer run by us. It is not put in any cloud database. Comment and message text, usernames and replies are deleted after 30 days. Simple counts without text or names (for example "4 replies on 27 October") may be kept longer.
Your messages and comments also stay on Instagram itself, under Instagram's own policy. Deleting them there is done in Instagram.
Your choices
- Stop: tell Lucy you want no more replies, or email lucy@johnbruno.net. She will not answer you again.
- Delete: send Lucy a message saying "delete my data", or email lucy@johnbruno.net. We delete everything we hold about you within 30 days, usually much sooner, and tell you when it is done. Details: data deletion.
- Ask: write to lucy@johnbruno.net to ask what we hold about you.
Children
Lucy is not meant for anyone under 13 (or the minimum age for Instagram where you live). If we learn we hold data from a child, we delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new date.
